Language of the Term 2017-03-18T23:36:36+00:00

At Abbey Meadows we strive to celebrate the different backgrounds of all our pupils; we encourage understanding of other cultures and give the children an opportunity to communicate in different languages. One way we do this is through the Language of the Term scheme. The scheme introduces everyone at the school to some of the languages spoken in the school community. Children, from Reception to Year 6, will participate in the scheme. Each term, a group of children become the ‘language experts’, recording words and phrases for everyone to learn and giving an insight into their culture. Each term teachers will receive a resource pack with suggested activities and video clips of basic words and phrases recorded by the pupils at the school or their family members.  Our autumn term language was Polish and this page introduces you to some of the activities and resources we used.  The summer term language will be Arabic.
